2008 Shore Support class

June 8th. 2008 marked the date of the most recent shore support class. Along with the new PCWRT psd divers members of the Atwater, Charlestown, Deerfield, Edinburg, Hiram, Matnua/Shalersville, Ravenna, Ravenna Twp., Streetsboro, Suffield and Kent Fire departments as well as a member of the Brimfiled PD. and one Hocking college student.

The PCWRT (2008) PSD Class

10 new divers were added to the PCWRT during the recent public safety diver class that was put on this April and May 2008. Up front left to right, Russ, Matt, Jason, Eric, Paul and in the back, Vince, Matt, Ryan, Adam, and Tony. We welcome Brimfield PD and Ravenna FD to the PCWRT.

Each year as part of our training schedule, the PCWRT and the Portage Coutny Haz-Mat teams get together to do a joint training.

DR1 class ( Ravenna Twp. F.D.)

District coordinator Simmons teaches members of Ravenna Townships dive team the more advanced Dive Rescue one class.

Part of the DR1 class is teaching the team member to do a witness interview at the scene. A good interview can be the key to an effective dive operation.

During the witness interview scenerio, the team members are taught how to judge a credible witness from a not so credible witness.

Team members are also taught how to establish a last seen point, this is the point at which the dive operation will be based.

DR1 students will be given different scenerios to test their ability to handle stress as well as maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

Neuro Check

After every dive a Neurological check is done on each diver, this check is performed by the Aurora F.D. who supply the PCWRT with medical support.

Safety Diver

Here a safety diver is ready to go if the primary diver is in need of assistance. The safety dive is 100% ready to go and is always facing the primary divers bubbles in the water.

Each year the PCWRT stages a dive scenerio in the county, the location and scenerio are only know by the officers and told to the rest of the team that morning.
